Your First Visit

Examination

After you complete your paper work you will be ready to meet with Dr. Bakken. He will start by talking with you to get to know you and the history of your current problem(s). When this is done Dr. B will perform a complete examination including posture, movement, orthopedic tests, neurological evaluation, and muscle tissue evaluation. During the exam Dr. Bakken will explain his findings so that you can better understand your condition(s). Following the exam, he will recap the findings and develop a treatment plan just for you.

Imaging Studies

At Back-In-Action Chiropractic x-rays are not recommended for every patient, only when medically indicated. Depending on your specific condition imaging may be recommended and may include x-ray or MRI. Imaging can help to alert us to any serious conditions or contraindications to treatment that you may have. If images are needed Dr. Bakken will refer you to the appropriate facility to have the images taken.

Treatment

Typically, treatment will be started during the first appointment and may include manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and exercises to begin at home. Dr. Bakken utilizes multiple types of manipulation and will work with you to make sure treatment is comfortable and effective.

Follow Up Treatments

Follow up treatments will be either 15 or 30 minutes in length. Follow up treatments may include manipulation of the spine and or extremities, soft tissue therapy, exercise instruction, kinesiotaping, ultrasound or electrical muscle stimulation. All treatment plans are specific to the individual and are based on the person’s condition. When you reach the end of your treatment plan you and Dr. Bakken will decide if continued treatment is indicated. If no further treatment is indicated, you will be released from care.

Supportive Care

For patients with chronic conditions supportive care is available following your active treatment plan. This type of care varies in frequency depending on the person’s condition, but average frequency is 1 visit per month.

Maintenance Care

Following an active treatment plan some patients choose to come in every 4-8 weeks for maintenance care. These patients simply report they feel better with regular chiropractic care. Any of our patients are welcome to continue with this type of service.

The entire team at Back-In-Action Chiropractic is focused on helping you to move better, feel better, and heal better.
